Frequently Asked Questions
How long will my repairs take?
There are many variables beyond our control that impact how long collision repair work can take. Once we have performed our diagnosis, negotiated with your insurance (which may take 4-6 business days or longer— in some cases), and we know where the parts are coming from/when the parts will arrive, then we will provide you an “estimated” date of completion. Most importantly, you will be kept informed throughout the repair process so you are aware of when your vehicle will be done.
Why can’t I drop my car off if it’s drivable?
The current supply chain issues have greatly affected how long it takes for us to get parts from the manufacturer, especially if it’s a current year model. Rather than have your vehicle sit here without it being worked on and wasting rental car days with the insurance, you can remain with your car and we make sure all the parts arrive before the repairs. We will also do an inspection beforehand to make sure we capture as many parts needed before you come in for repairs. This entails removing a few components off your car while you wait, and then reassembling the car back together so you are back on the road. We can also review/negotiate this with your insurance as well.
Will the value of my car be affected due to collision repair work being performed?
Each accident scenario is different, but it is common that even with factory-like, high quality repair work being performed that the history of this event will show up on a VIN report like Autocheck or Carfax. We do not release your repair information to anyone without your consent. This commonly shows up on a vehicle report because of your insurance sharing/selling this data. The Diminished Value (DV) is a cost a 3rd party insurance company owes you per the California Department of Insurance regulations. It is strongly recommended you contact a DV appraiser for assistance. Our body shop manager can assist you with this.
Will my car ever be the same after the collision repair work?
We offer a lifetime warranty on our labor and paintwork to give you the peace of mind knowing that your car was fixed properly. We refuse to use any other parts other than brand new factory OEM (original equipment manufacturer) parts. These parts carry a 2-year warranty with no mileage restriction. Please review your warranty documentation provided with your final paperwork for exclusions.
Do you have rental cars available?
Yes, we have our own in-house rental agency, Skyview rentals that has brand new BMWs available to rent during your collision repairs. We direct bill to all insurance companies and offer competitive daily rates. Enterprise and Hertz are also within walking distance of the collision center.
Do I need an estimate before getting my car fixed?
It is not necessary to visit multiple body shops to get different quotes to submit to your insurance company. Furthermore, you also do not need to provide your insurance photographs or drive to one of their “preferred” shops to get an estimate. The insurance company’s goal is to close your claim as fast as possible, regardless if they give you an accurate estimate or not. If you know you want to get the vehicle repaired with us, just give us a call or make an appointment online and we can coordinate getting your insurance the information they need to process your claim accurately.
Are all insurance companies the same?
Many of the nation’s largest insurance companies have repeatedly demonstrated complete lack of regard for high-end vehicle repair procedures, using factory parts for repairs, and have heavily underpaid us on labor rates and materials (below what is customary for other large insurance companies). We refuse to compromise your safety to appease an insurer. We strive to have great relations with all insurance companies, but not all carriers prioritize their policy holder’s repair quality over price. We would be happy to discuss this further with you in person to address your concerns.
How does the insurance claim process work once the car enters your facility?
a. We use the original estimate (if available) from your insurance as a starting point. We modify it during our damage diagnosis phase of the repairs. If no estimate exists from your insurance, we generate our own repair plan/quote.
b. Once the damage diagnosis is completed, your insurance is notified of the changes and we provide them with the updated repair quote, photos, and supporting documentation.
c. Your insurance may review this information remotely or in person, and by law, they have 3-6 business days to complete their approval.
d. Once the approval is provided, you are provided a complete breakdown of all work to be performed, which you must authorize.
e. Once the work is authorized, then we can order the parts needed and commence the actual repair work.
